So yesterday in the House of Commons there was a great ruckus. The Liberals calling the Conservatives far right and the Conservatives calling the Liberals far left and eventually two people were expelled from the house including the leader of the Opposition. And his entire party left the house in solidarity. It is funny the things I notice sometimes. Probably insignificant if not pointless in the scheme of things. But I noticed that when the speaker of the house had to read his decision on expelling the people, sitting beside him as the only piece of paper was the “correct” piece of paper for him to read from to expel them, waiting there alone with a post-it note on it. I was thinking it was oddly convenient. How did they know it was “the” necessary piece of paper for him this day? I dunno. I’m old and suspicious these days I guess and will let it go. What I can’t let go is in Canada we have a government locked into these kinds of accusations with each other. Always forcing the divide. Always telling people they can only be one side or another. The games of children shaming.
