I think the raccoons have finally broken me. Listening to baby raccoons howling in the trees. Ignoring the scratching at the window. Pretending I can’t see the fuzzy faces staring and the sad mewl chitter of hungry little beings. They say it is hard to learn to love for some but to learn to “not” love is a much harder prospect. I suppose people learn that lesson in life. I seem to have to learn it over and over. The smartest ones don’t get into such predicaments in the first place of course. I am not the smart one. That being said, they are mostly gone now. They are not draped on the deck waiting. They are mostly out there in the woods with a few stragglers at the window. By next week I suspect they will all have moved on. I won’t have. I will still see their faces at the window. All 24 of them.

Life is a tragedy for those who feel and comedy for those who think. Someone said that.
Awww poor you! It is all for the best. They will continue to live and hunt and play in the wild. They will always remember your kindness. They will bring their offspring to the edge of the woods, point and say, there lives goodness and love. You will be a legend in their nursery, you will be revered for generations . Enjoy your status.
