Smoke. Red sun. over half a million hectares burning. One fire 70 km away under control. other one 100 km away out of control but not huge. Birds are quiet. Air quality not good.
bet you never thought you'd live through a forest fire! novel material! front and foremost. the forest aliens. natch. let me fill you in. a typical grey. yet they weave these super clever, elfin hats and shoes from grasses and leaves. nobody knows why or how they became forest aliens. theory's abound. i focus on the hats. tiny. first observation. yet seem to have a sticky inclination not to fall off. it's an enormous melon. to have such a tiny "robinhood" style cap. ridiculously perched! i would add that it's quite impossible to take them seriously until it's 9 hours later and you have woken up in your tent...... questions arise.
methinks you are writing yourself a novel. I tend to write 1000 words or less. It is how I think now. So you get the novel and I get the vague impressions in short blurbs. You wear your robinhood hat and I'll wear the tinfoil one and we'll carry on.
Beautiful writing and insight. Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold came to mind when reading! Thanks.
